Dan is a British novelist who is obsessed with adventure stories and is determined to use his love of history to shine a light on the unsung heroes (and antiheroes) of the past. Dan owns his own business, The Open Book Editor, through which he offers professional manuscript editorial services. He is a team editor of Write On! magazine, studied psychology at the University of Birmingham, and is a Fellow of the Historical Novel Society and the Society of Authors.  

In 2018, Dan’s debut novel, Caesar of Mercenaries, was shortlisted for the 2018 Wilbur Smith Adventure Writing Prize for Best Unpublished Manuscript.  

The Lioness & The Flame, his second novel, was the runner-up for the 2020 Wilbur Smith Adventure Writing Prize for Best Unpublished Manuscript.
