Lucy Dearlove is a writer and audio producer originally from North East England, now based in East Sussex. She’s produced audio and written work across the fields of food, music, history and culture for BBC Radio 4 (including 2023’s documentary podcast series Witch), the Guardian, Historic England, and Vittles.

She hosts and produces Lecker, one of the UK’s most critically acclaimed food podcasts and two-time winner of the Fortnum & Mason Podcast of the Year Award. Its 2021 documentary series Kitchens, exploring the past, present and potential future of the home kitchen, received reviews in the Financial Times, the Guardian, the New Statesman and Vulture, and she’s since released mini series about the food and folklore of the Isle of Man (Blasstal) and industrialised grain testing (Good Bread).

She’s interested in how social, political and cultural conditions and their interconnected large scale systems influence what we eat and how we cook, particularly within domestic settings, and how those habits are reflected back to us through the media we consume, and also in the role and documentation of a contemporary oral tradition within food and cooking. She’s currently working on a non-fiction book proposal about kitchens and aspiration.
