Kate Walker
Kate Walker is a children’s author who grew up in South Wales, where she loved listening to her dad’s made-up stories.
She has a History degree from UEA and has published short stories in Aquila magazine, inspired by the Vikings she studied. She writes chapter books and middle-grade novels with a sprinkling of picture books.
She has won SCBWI’s Slushpile Challenge and runner up for the Writing Magazine’s Chapter Book Prize with multiple works shortlisted and longlisted in the Chicken House Open Coop, Writementor, Searchlight, and Guppy Publishing Open Submission.
Kate lives mostly in her imagination, but also in Sussex with her family, cat and far too many plants.
Her debut chapter book is called The Lunchbox Dragon, about a young girl who wishes herself a dragon small enough for her to take to school and make magic with. It is going out on submission in Spring 2025.
