Tamsin Keily

Tamsin Keily is a novelist based in Frome, Somerset, where she lives with her three year old daughter, husband and an exceedingly cowardly cat.

She studied Psychology at Durham University and then went on to train as a Primary school teacher. Tamsin has written two books for adults; Daisy Cooper’s Rules for Living (Orion Books, 2020) and The Surprising Days of Isla Pembroke (Orion Books, 2021), which both explored the experience of grief in different ways, with a little bit of fantasy sprinkled in for good measure!  Having worked as a Primary school teacher for the past nine years, Tamsin has become increasingly interested in writing for children, having experienced firsthand their bottomless imagination and enthusiasm for exciting stories. She is delighted to be writing her first children’s book, aimed at the 11-13 year old age range. The Reluctant Wishmaker explores a world where magic has become the latest product to buy, and the freedom of magic-possessing children has been stolen as a result. It tells the story of Leonie and her best friend Cressida, as they try to keep Leonie and her magic free.

When Tamsin isn’t writing, she can usually be found buying books, finding space to put said books, then reading these books so she can buy more books. She also loves drinking excessive tea, watching true crime documentaries, and giving her cat belly rubs.
