Andrew Herring

Andrew Herring is a lawyer. His professional career had focussed on the legal structuring and delivery of major projects until 2019 when Andrew’s son suffered a catastrophic brain injury.  In trying to secure his son’s survival Andrew became an observer and participant in the most critical medical, ethical and legal debates about consciousness, about the value of a human life, and who is to live, and who is to die, and how. In ITU, HDU and specialist neuro units, the law and systems of medical ethics and guidance competed to define the future. The Undiscovered Country is Andrew’s first book.
